We went to Oklahoma yesterday to see my Mom. TC had so much fun, he cried when we had to leave.

We swam in the indoor pool as well. :)

School nurse

Tc got to go to the Tx Sta*te Fair this week with school. I think he had a great time! Unfortunately the next day he was none to happy to go to school. He cried as I put him on the bus. And apparently he had a nosebleed once he got there. So the sent him to the nurse.

The school nurse called hubs and was asking about his legs (they are so much better and are scabbing over) but you can see the bites. They are not red or infected and he has completed his oral antibiotics. The nurse basically said we need to take him to our dr and get more antibiotics. The e.r. told us as long as the red is gone and it is not sore to the touch, he will heal up and be fine.

I told hubs that I understand her concern but we did exactly what the dr's told us and we even kept him home 2 more days to allow him to heal. I am not going to battle it out with another nurse!

I know some parents don't take care of their kids but we do. Sheesh.

Itsy bitsy spider

We had an interesting weekend! We went to the football game on Friday. Sara performed with the dance team at 1/2 time. Our boys won 39 to 0!

Hubby noticed a bite on TC's leg so we took a look at it and noticed another one on his other leg. Both bites had a head on them...one was already draining. The other we poked and it started draining as well. On Saturday we did the same thing....both bites were still looking pretty bad but we disinfected them and they were less red.

The next day we continued to mash them and get the stuff out but by Sunday afternoon we were concerned that they needed to be looked at by a dr. We took TC to the e.r. and it was a terrible ordeal. They had to deaden the area with a needle before they could lance the two bites (they called them boils). It was so bad..my poor baby screamed and screamed. The dr. lanced the two places and they immediately looked better. He is now on oral antibiotics and pain meds and can't go back to school til' Thursday if he is looking better.  He was so brave. I was very proud of him.

I also reported the bites to his school, and to his bus driver. The bus driver said they are going to spray for spiders on the bus. She will also talk to the principal about spraying the playground area. I am just so glad we took him in, it could have been so much worse!

5th grade

I can honestly say this year has been a bit challenging for TC. But he has a great support system. I think some things he does at his new school are a lot over his head and "way too hard" as he says. However, he is being challenged and I guess that is a good thing.

Usually he counts down the days and is readily anticipating Friday.

Aren't we all??

5th and 11th graders

Here are some pics of the first day of school. You can sort of see Sara in the first one. She has dance 1st period so she has to go to school in her dance stuff.

TC has done well so far. I think the work they are sending home is waaay above his level but he has an aide and I did send a note for his teacher so hopefully I will get some feedback.

All I know is he is not crying and hating his teacher this year. We dealt with the same teacher  for 4 years and he always told me she was "fake"....imagine that.  Last year they mainstreamed him more and he had 2 great teachers who I know loved him.

One good thing is I start my new job next week and I will have normal hours and will be home by 5:30 instead of 8:45 every evening. I am so hacky!!!!

First day

Tomorrow is the first day of school.

I am nervous. TC goes to a new school and will have special needs classes and two mainstream classes. He will have an aide.

TC still does not read, he can read a few sight words but that is it. He is learning, but slowly. He is smart and can figure things out pretty easily but school is a struggle still.

I worry about kids mistreating him.  He is different and in our society, if you are different in any way, you get treated badly at times. We all know how it is.

This Mom is a bit worried....hoping it all goes well.

Good day

Today was a pretty good day. Sara got her new glasses. We took the kids to Shenaniganz to play video games and laser tag. TC was worn out afterward...see photo..lol!

Momma guilt

This morning Tc had a huge meltdown.

Over poop.

He had an upset tummy and ended up getting poop on his hand when wiping. Which led to a huge cryfest. I told him "Hey it's okay, we all get poop on us sometimes!"

I helped wash him up and told him to wash his hands really well.

I went back in the bathroom to see he had thrown a new, unused roll of toilet paper in the toilet.

And I lost it! I went into a tirade about how we "don't waste" and that was not necessary to throw a whole unused roll of toilet paper into the toilet.

He cried and felt so bad. Then I felt so bad.

He said, "I am going to run away and get a new family and a new life."

Oh the drama.

So I held him and told him I was sorry for getting upset and if he ever runs away I will cry and cry. And afterwards he said, "Okay mom, you forgive me and we are friends?"

My answer, "Of course. We are best buddies!"

Tc not happy

I have started doing a little bit of school shopping. TC overheard me telling hubs about it and he got really upset. He does not want to go back to school....I assured him that he still has a month to go. He is starting a new school and will have a new teacher. I am a little scared.

He would be happy staying home all the  time but he can't!

Summertime

Summer is flying by! I am off work today and tomorrow so today I am going to take the kids to a movie. "Madea"...we love those Tyler Perry movies!

It is already extremely hot here in Texas. I will more than likely be working a lot of overtime from here on out! (at least til' my job goes away in September.) I hope everybody's summer is good.

Rabbits and new things

TC is very excited to have only 4 days of school left. This morning he woke up and went outside and when I went into the kitchen, he was in the fridge "looking for a carrot." I asked him why and he said, "Mom I saw a rabbit and I need to catch it!"

He has started trying new things. He has started eating bananas. He had one this morning for breakfast. "Happy Mom!"

Almost over

Can you believe that it is May?? I have already started purchasing some "small" things for Christmas. And since my job is going away this summer, I had better get ready!

TC is doing great, I know he is ready for summertime. Sara has drill team camp this summer and lots of practices so hopefully my niece can help watch TC a little bit and I will pay her.

What are your summer plans?

Special Olympics

We went to see TC at Special Olympics on Wednesday. He did great, brought home 2 medals.

It was humbling seeing the kids carry the banner in and I cried...of course.

School meeting

The meeting with the principal went well. I am very happy that I met with Ms. J and made her aware of TC 's struggles regarding school. He has had some behaviors that I haven't seen in years.

He came home yesterday with a sticker and a note in his folder and a "happy gram" that he wanted to hang in his room.

Thank you Jesus!

School and anxiety

TC has been having severe anxiety over school. I e mailed the principal today and let her know about how stressed out he is.

We have a meeting tomorrow.

Prayers please!

Tc and Mushka

My Mom got TC this wolf, he named her Mushka (pronounced Mooshka). She is heavy and big! He loves her. She even rode to the bus stop with us today.

Spring Break 2012

Spring Break went by entirely too fast!

This morning was very "challenging" and Tc cried a lot. His teacher e mailed me and said he was having a rough day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Autism sucks sometimes.

IEP

It was IEP time today. Don't you love 'em???

I figured we would be discussing TC's progress....and his goals. I also figured we would be talking about possibly moving him next year to a new school. He will be a 5th grader...gasp!

One of his teachers brought several papers they are working on in her class. He is grasping his letters and sounds and can recognize several sight words. He also is able to recognize numbers up to 10 but is stumped after that saying that the number 13 is a 1 and a 3 but he isn't understanding it is the number 13. He can count to 50. He recognizes color words.

She held up a picture he drew. She said she told her students to draw themselves as a 90 year old. TC drew a man with a suit and tie and a tiny bit of hair....a cane and a lady friend/wife standing next to him holding his hand. Too cute! When the teacher asked the class what they would be doing when they turn 90, TC's answer was, "Having high blood pressure and a heart attack." LOL.
We have been talking a lot about being healthier, and my blood pressure has been a little high so that is where he got this from.

He gets speech three times a week and still struggles with conversation...not when you ask him a question but he doesn't initiate conversation too much. (Not like most 10 year olds do.) His enunciation has never been an issue.

He has one teacher, Ms. S who has him in her class about 3 hours a day including lunch. She is a mainstream teacher and I love love love her. Did I mention I adore and love her?? The last IEP I cried and so did she. And today she hugged me afterwards.

The diagnotician did let me know they are wanting to start him at a new campus next year with kids his age. He will be in resource math and reading and he will have an aide to go with him to science, lunch and social studies.

I am worried but I hope he will do good. *We still have til' August!*

Sing it

Tc missed the bus this morning. I was so mad! I have to get up at 5:15 to get him up in time to catch the bus and he was messing around, complaining and doing the usual and we missed the bus. Ugh.

I took him to school and his teacher told me something. She said that TC was on the computer singing away and all of the sudden she heard him sing, "What the hell".
She told him, "Tony we don't say that." And his response was, "I didn't say it, I sang it!"

He is too much!

Wolf boy

Tc has a new obsession with wolves. I am partly to blame for that! I mentioned a baby (kidding with him) and he said, "Can I have a pet?" And teasing with him, I said, "Yes you can get a wolf."

Now he always talks about wolves. We have to read a story about wolves from the books I ordered for him about animals every night. He talks about being a wolf....he was playing wolves at school and bit another child. Woops!

Late shift; hubs and TC

Since I am back working til 8 every night...hubs is on kid duty. He took TC out to shoot the bb gun day before yesterday. Yesterday they took out the telescope and looked at the moon. TC told me last night, "The moon has holes!"

At least they are getting some bonding time.

A day off

I am going to let TC skip school tomorrow. We need some mama/son time! I am excited to spend some time with him because my hours are changing at work again.

They are doing seniority based scheduling so I am going to be working 11:30 to 8:00 all week next week. Blah.
Even on Saturday!

I am job hunting again, not sure if I will find anything but I need to see my kids, at least on the weekend.

I need to get new tires so I guess TC and I will do that tomorrow and go buy food and maybe if it is nice enjoy something outdoors. I can't wait!

Reading and dancing

One of TC's struggles has been running in p.e. He cries every Sunday about running in p.e.
We have recently begun to do Just Dance on the Wii. It is a lot of fun and a great way to get him more active.

He is too cute doing his dance thing!

Every night at bedtime we read a book. I ordered some great books that have 2 animals each and each side talks in detail about the animal, their habitat, etc...
Last night we read about tigers. Did you know tigers have a specific area that is their territory and they go from tree to tree and pee on the trees to mark that territory?? TC found this hilarious and we were being silly with this information last night. I told him "I bet that tiger does the pee pee dance after peeing on those trees!" He loved it and giggled for a long time!

Sigh

Wow. Yesterday was a doozy fit for TC when he found out he had school today. He was immediately sent to his room to cool off.

He cried for over 30 minutes.

I finally told him to come into the livingroom and we had a chat. He kept saying bad things about how he was going to blow up the school. I explained to him that kind of talk is not acceptable and if someone hears him say that he could get in big trouble.

It just never gets easier from week to week!

School back in and a funny boy

Both kids started back to school on Tuesday. Tc's folder came home with a note saying he had a tough time transitioning back. Yesterday he got a sticker, so I guess yesterday was a better day.

I am working late again and not getting home til' after 7. So trying to cram in time with the kids plus get the chores done is hard! TC went to his drawer last night and got his pj's out and came back very upset! I asked what was wrong and he said, "There is an empty spot in my drawer, you need to fill it!" I had to laugh and told him I would get right on that...I commenced to folding clothes...lol!

New year 2012

Here is TC in his new suit he got from his Grandma for Christmas. He is doing good, really enjoyed Christmas break. School starts back tomorrow. Wish us luck!
